| Born in Amman , Jordan , and a U.S. citizen, Mohammed A. Bamyeh received his Ph.D. in Sociology from UW-Madison in 1990. He is currently the Hubert H. Humphrey Professor of International Studies at Macalester College in Saint Paul , Minnesota . He is a former SSRC-MacArthur Fellow in International Peace and Security, and has previously taught at Georgetown University , New York University, SUNY-Buffalo, and the University of Massachusetts . In addition, he has been invited lectures at many other universities and institutions in the United States , Canada , Taiwan , Sweden , Jordan , Turkey , Italy , Malaysia , Macau , and Zimbabwe . In addition to participating in numerous international conferences and colloquiua, he has engaged in long term onsite research for a year or more in Europe and the Middle East .
